Boy, this is a tough one for me. I've struggled with this my whole career because I go very much both ways first. I Think way too many companies don't promote youngsters fast enough. I Think of business like sports, you can be an All-Pro as a rookie Kobe was just fine at 18 and he was a superstar.

So why do we not let superstars in work get promoted quicker? On the flip side, we over promoted aggressively in Vayner Media's History and Wine Library's history and I have seen when I give people too much responsibility too fast it them up no different than me at 10 years old being great at baseball. They moved me up to the 13 to 15 year old league and 11 year old Gary wasn't ready for that heat and it me up in baseball. So this is a balancing act. When you see this, headline leaders and owners.

it's really down to the individual. there are absolutely youngsters. You should promote much faster. That's why so many of you are losing great people, but there's others that need a little more slowdown and training when they get their bat.

Shouldn’t it all come down to training? Or maybe vet their personal life to see if they can handle responsibility better. Like is their room clean or are they just good at one job and the boss thinks they should be promoted? Whereas you may have an actually responsible individual who’s room is clean and takes care of their faith and family as well who’s ready for more responsibility. At the end of the day I think it all should come down to training. It just depends on how much you want to put into training.

😕 so 💭 “fail fast” doesn’t always work then… 💭 or rather is it possible to fail too fast… 💭 🤷🏽‍♂️ idk, it all feels like semantics sometimes

I love the baseball analogy here. Some people are the Ken Griffey Jr’s and others need some time in the minors.

Giving more responsibilities can help grow the young workers faster, allow them to make mistakes and correct them.

How crazy it’s gonna be to link with this man one day and for him to know who I am. I’m on a path to change millions of lives for the better as well.
