Think a lot of people are staying in jobs for one or two years after they realize the job sucks or is not for them two or three weeks in and I think the reason they're doing that is they're worried that it's going to look bad on their resume and I just don't think that's as real as people think in today's environment. I Just don't know what else to say to me. The way I look at it is number one: If a company looks at your resume when you submit it and sees that you only work somewhere for two months and that eliminates you, you probably don't want to work for that company. Number two: if you get in the door, you can just explain that you used your self-awareness to recognize it wasn't a good fit, or you undercovered this or that or the other thing, or you sold a bag of goods that weren't real and just the thought of people in their 20s wasting two years because they want their resume to not look awkward to then get another job at a place that would judge you on that resume.
It just feels like one big Circle So recommendation of the day: Don't overthink it. Like if the job sucks bounce, it's not gonna really up your resume in the world that we're actually living.
Get the job experience from that position and start applying for something better
Dont try that shit if you are living in the America that i am in right now
I dragged myself for 3 months to stay at the job that wasn't like it was described & my understanding I was going to do, sales. And to top it off, the environment in that team was like hell. And when I submitted my resignation letter, I really felt like I just got out of hell. Drank a couple glasses of Jack D to celebrate it.
And in the next job interview (interview with the CEO), he asked what about that and I just explained what it's exactly – and I'm in for 7 years till COVID came.
You're not doing yourself or anybody else any favors by staying in a job you hate. All you're doing is taking 2 or 3 years you could have spent finding the thing you love and wasting them. So many need to trust themselves more.. you know when something's not right for you. It's okay to move on.
Facts!
i have been a cook for 6yrs and although i'm moving up. i want to be a zoologist and am working towards this going to a interview in about 3 days… here's hoping
The crap jobs find a way to smear the every day employee
Simply focus on the requirements and make sure it matches your experience.
I agree and disagree to this.
Like yes, if you hate your job then fuckin run for hills.
But if you quit because the job is "too hard" and you didn't find your true potential then it could be potential wasted.
I started a D2D sales job two months ago selling solar. And God it is hard as fuck. Some days I feel like shit doing it. But, I know that I am built for sales and by doing this "hard job" I think it has pushed me to be better person with a better work ethic.
It’s cause it’s the only company willing to hire them and we have bills to pay.
That so funny because my entire resume is jobs I have only worked at 2-3 months and I just put 2022 as the date for all of them and they have never asked at every job I have applied at so far. If you wondering why it only work 2-3 months at food service jobs it’s because I travel a lot, I wish i could have stayed longer at some of the jobs I worked because the co workers and managers were great at 2 of my last previous jobs other ones just sucked to be honest.
Good advice.
Thank you again. I would love to see you speak!!
I am different, NOT the norm. Never have been complacent. Constantly judged… WHAT YOUR MESSAGE IS …. Resonates . I don’t feel so alone 😊
1 or 2 years?😂🤣 try 20😭
I feel like no matter what, certain jobs are looking for flawless action in people, which means that it's gonna get harder for those who want to work. Eventually we have to find different ways to help those who want a career in something they worked hard for during college, even though there are pretty much more than enough alternatives in careers we seek.
How many of us had a backup plan in case we couldn't get that one job we wanted? Maybe some of us were told to do so.
The world needs to have more than one backup plan so we can still be happy no matter how many times we fail in our lives.
remember this guy won't be offering the guy
