Do you think a kid growing up right now with technology has the possibility of being as skilled as you are at communicating if they're spending much more of their time like this. I do I get where that's coming from and I see the anxiety that our kids are less social? this that the amount of charismatic 14 year olds that I even see here let alone know it's very high. Sure kids are in their phone and iPads more than they were 30 years ago because we didn't have that. but I Played Nintendo for nine hours a day during the summer and watch Saved by the Bell you know what I mean like it's not like I was at 14 running around at right mixers and cocktail parties I was definitely an 80s kid that was outside a lot but you know my brother wasn't that I see plenty of social skills in him.

Most kids I know are socializing, but instead of being in their room with a corded phone begging for time on the family phone line and being on the phone with that one friend or a party line with a record player or cassettes… then we went to being on that family line being on AOL and cds…now they are on a video group chats talking from anywhere outside in their room … technology has unplugged them from a wall they can share all these experiences among themselves easier. It sometimes seems like udder chaos, because they often are talking, someone is being the chat DJ, often some of them are doing something else on top of that like playing a video game or outside going for a walk.

I worry more about the 22 and 25 yr Olds that have the best social relationship with their phone

I played Nintendo at 9 and was at the "mixers" and desert parties at 13+

Adults project too much. Stop it. Let kids be kids. Let them communicate WITH THEIR PEERS the way they & their peers communicate. It’s may seem foreign but guess what? IT AINT FOR YOU. It’s for them. Their fluency won’t be yours. Stop trying to make them replace it with yours.

You cant compare social media to an 8bit game from 30 years ago. social medi has its upsides and downsides, but the downsides are more common wich results in things like brainwashing, lack of social skills, depression, loneliness ect. I dont think that giving a child social media is a good idea at all. Here are already too many people who have been raised by an iPad. And no kids dont get better at using their device and identify threats, for that you actually need an higher iq and experience with people face to face.

I think technology with kids is being over used, coming from me, but I also think there is so much potential, I am learning coding right now as a college class at 14 and learning so much!
