What life lesson do you think you've learned the hard way? The value of Candor There's nothing even close when I think about every relationship I have on Earth Any employee that has ever worked at Boehner or at Wine Library that doesn't like me that knows me are 100 based on my inability to be Candace with them and then surprising them when they got fired. The reason I wrote 12 and a half was to get that out and to talk about how I've reframed it. Our company Seven years ago we didn't have cotton Candor we didn't have it. We are a much better company for having Candor but Candor that has the word kind in it because Candor is weaponized by a lot of people.

Yep, for me, it's transparent communication — very similar to kind candor.
Transparent communication, for me, is about having a strong sense of integrity in my business, taking radical responsibility (extreme ownership in Jocko's world), setting clear expectations upfront, and maintaining open lines of communication with clients.
Easily THE BEST thing that I wish didn't take me until I was 27 to learn and implement. Everything has gotten better (including my mental health and self-esteem) when I did.

I HATE delivering bad news and I know it hurts my business. I read Radical Candor but struggle to actually do it.
People are fake af
Be real
Tell people how you really feel
But that doesnt mean be a dick
Candor with kindness
Be sincere
Be honest
Dont be shady because you're scared of hurting peoples feelings or you dont want to be the bad guy
Business is business
But business is people
And people have feelings
And families
And deserve to be treated like human beings
