This notion that fear is a great motivator is actually true. The problem is, it's not sustainable. You may get what you want in the short term, but deep down all those people hate you. And if they hate you, they'll steal from you.

They'll backstab you, They'll leave you. And how can you blame them? You used fear to motivate them. You're the Worst. How many people right now are in a corporate or business environment where the ultimate boss strives fear and you're trying to be the middle person to balance it to protect them? But you're eating the from the boss.

Stand the up. If you're one of these people right now. please don't me. Don't be scared.

Stand up. Every one of those people need to quit their job now. Easy for me to say all they all see on this stage. What I probably do first is have one real kind.

Candor Conversation Hey Boss I've been here for three years. Two years. Six months, nine years. This is the real situation.

You're scaring people I'm trying to make it, but it's wearing on me. It's not sustainable. It's not my business. are you capable of adjusting to this? But you have to have one conversation and then see if it does anything.

Preach! Say it louder! I doing well at work, numbers, team player, great customer service, etc etc and I had a bipolar manager who always screamed at me and then I started coming late and ignore her request just to piss her off

Living this right now. Company took out OT completely, makes us track bathroom breaks and takes that time away from 15 min breaks and they cut out any non working group like women in the workplace, mental health, focus groups etc. talked to my boss, warned him they were about to lose 20% of their work force at least and he said they didn’t care, they’ll replace them. 4 days into this and everyone is spending their break time on indeed. Production has gone down 20%, an entire days worth, and everyone is miserable. They tried fear and it’s lead to an utter collapse.

My girlfriend built her boss's business from 3 people to 27 people and made him a million dollars in revenue every year yet he was rude, mean-spirited and nasty to her and would threaten her paycheck over the smallest things.

I coached her into having that conversation, "I want to keep making you money but I need a few agreements from you that are a reasonable shift. He fired her on the spot. Then his company fell apart. 6 months later he begged for her back and agreed to all the stipulations plus a $4 raise. Hr lasted 1 month before violating the agreement. When I coached her again to have that conversation, he fired her again. Now she is a top manager at a much healthier company and they keep throwing promotions and raises at her.

Hey GaryVee! I wanted to reach out and discuss a situation I'm facing with my boyfriend, who is also my boss. Ever since I started working as his virtual assistant, things between us have changed. I no longer feel the same level of care and affection from him as his girlfriend. It seems like he now sees me primarily as an employee. How can I address this and navigate the blurred boundaries between our personal and professional lives? Your insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'd love to hear more about how to have these tough conversations!
We're trying to address a tense work environment in our firehouse. A few people, who I respect immensely and who have the most experience and knowledge to offer, seem so intent on making others miserable that it's driving new people away.

Take it from me, as someone who quit his job a month ago because of a sh*tty boss — just get out of there. Majority of people don’t change. You challenging them won’t change a damn thing. The most powerful position you have is walking away. Respect yourself and the life that you want. If it doesn’t serve you, it’s draining you, or it’s making you miserable — know your worth and move on. It’s time for a change. Quitting my job was the best thing I’ve done this year.
