Everyone makes marketing seem so difficult when it's actually super basic. There are 3 levels to marketing when it comes to driving business results:
Top of the funnel: drive awareness from people who have never heard of you. Largest pool of people, also least likely to convert
Middle of the funnel: convert people in the consideration stage. Decent number of people, interested but need some more convincing.
Bottom of the funnel: brand loyalists and repeat purchasers. Smallest number of people, but also really hot leads who are ready to buy.
No matter what medium you're using: Facebook ads, content marketing, LinkedIn, etc – the framework is the same.
