Biggest takeaway: Packaging.
Takeaway: The way out (of a rut) is in, and then outward at scale with authenticity and simplicity.
That you can create value from anything. Even interviewing the next person on the street. I always thought, that I have to be the perfect person and do these perfect videos, which I'm not capable of doing at all…
Tank you Gary. You help me.
The insight i think strongest is i document vs "create a content".
This takes a lot of weight.
Tank you again!
Difference between knowing who I am vs aspiring to something I might not be. I really think this will make me more self aware , if I go in the depth of this question for eg If I know that I am not a great programmer ,a great football player or attractive(in terms of look) I will not beat myself up for these things and this will save me a lot of time and energy and instead I will use my energy to focus on who I really am and be great at that. "NO more beating myself up"from now on.
Thanks gary….
We live in an era where there's always an excuse. If you want excuses you'll find them – if you want solutions you'll find those too.
Document versus create ❤
I'm 62 and have always been in love with ideas. I'm a natural multi-creative introspective but would love to be an industrious get-done-er. My growing understanding that 'who I am is more important that who I want to be, has led me to have a long hard look at myself. Strangely enough, accepting who I am in all my 'supposed' weaknesses, has allowed me to step into a better version of myself and I'm getting sh*t done that I previously wasn't confident about. Go figure!
Go and do
For me there was a couple of key takeaways, "Document Over Create" and the biggest was "Ideas are shit, execution is the game." This goes hand-in-hand with the idea that "People aren't starting." And that is where I find myself. I think for me the biggest thing holding me back is fear and my age. I will be forty-four in October and in the grand scheme of things that is not too old by any means. There are plenty of people in there mid to late 40s that are successful but for me it comes from a place of just starting. Is it too late to start? I am not just talking about in terms of content creation, but actually with my career. I have been at the same company for 21 years in September, I have become complacent. Just typing this out I do see how ridiculous I sound, but every time I go to execute and freeze. I think about the "what ifs" and the cons to any decisions and put them above my happiness. I see what I need to do but I need to figure out how to move forward and execute.
Love the idea that the shit your trying to plan out, happens automatically when you're in motion… So stop trying to plan so much!! Have a simple plan and be open to everything that can flow out of just being in the moment of what you're doing. You don't need much of a script, just an outline. You don't need fancy gear, use an iphone. Just get moving!
So far I was focusing on creating on Youtube with some pieces of content where I tried to document the past, but I never documented the actual journey. I mean my content quality seems to be much better but my intuition tells me in 2023 that whole game has changed much more than when this video was taken. Maybe it‘s just in my head…
I have to simply keep doing sh*t, start those ideas wandering in my head instead of thinking about how awesome they could be…
Execute don’t overthink
Maaannn!!! This was one of the best video I had watched in my entire YouTube history.
While watching the video, I just felt where I was lacking. I thought, like it was a mental block that I need to be the perfectionist in my field before putting out content. But yours "Document vs Create" method just blowed me away.
I'm gonna starting putting out content on my LinkedIn account right away.
Thank you so much Gary!
To build content from the top down, instead of from the bottom up
Document over create
My biggest takeaway- just start doing don’t just plan or imagine it will be long journey
My no. 1 takeaway:
Stop faking/overselling, be real and truthful.
