    So true about the employees. Employees won't perform just because they're paid to do so. One of the big surprises I had when I began hiring is that the self-image the company provides is more important than the money. I found that people weren't too interested in working for me even though I paid more than big companies, which completely took me by surprise. In hindsight it makes total sense, since we are completely irrational in nature and psychology trumps everything. People will only perform if they are motivated and are only motivated if they feel there will be an evolution towards something better.
