Google+ is most definitely a failure (in my eyes) for Google. While Google is my pick for the best tech company in the world, they made the wrong decision in doing something outside of their DNA. They tried to copy something, and I think that was ill-fated.
I use Google+ because there's an audience of mine there and it ties in greatly with the YouTube society. There's a small niche group of people that I massively respect that have developed some great communities there. However, much like every social network besides Twitter, it isn't in fact a social network. Most of these "social networks" have become content portals. And so, I still have a great sized audience on Google+ and therefore they will not be forgotten and I will continue to distribute my content there because it's native, and that's what you need to do. Understand the nuances of the platform and deliver based on how it's used.
So all in all, Google+ is a loss, but it's still something that needs to be paid attention to. Nothing is ever dead. I talk about email open rates being down, but it's still at the top of my current marketing strategy.
It's about what's happening in that moment. So where is Google+ now? It still merits the time it takes to utilize the platform and therefore I will continue to engage with my community within it. Remember people - follow the eyes and ears.

Not really a great corporate holiday story but one of the things that does happen at the holiday parties for the school district I work for is that there is games and people get super competitive! They cheat! So much it's hilarious π I just crack up and try not to get too hung up on it. What do you all think of people who cheat and justify it as being competitive?
I'm not going Saturday because I am a few years too late!

QoTD: Company Holiday Party Story – I'm in London and we had a party on a boat, traveling down the Thames. There were 2 bars on the 2 decks and lots of drinking and dancing. I'm sure you can see it coming, but one guy took a tumble over the side. He was caught before he made a full splash by the quick reflexes of a colleague. He never lived it down.
QOTD Answer – From what I can remember I actually did not go to any, was always either with family or just not interested and doing something else.
I was playing grabass with my gf at the time while leaving the party, someone called me out. The rest of it is super kosher
you have good energy π
Best holiday party I can think of ended up with a coworker passing out in a wave pool
that GREAT ANSWER ALERT was dope go D.Rock!
QOTD: 1) Hearing about how people would go weird at company holiday parties, I never went.Β Rotary Club holiday parties, on the other hand, brought out the BEST in people. 2) I couldn'tΒ visit youΒ because I didn't know you when you recorded the episode.
Hey Gary, Cool message on the merit of certain platforms. And a reminder of how most social media networks are not so social, but content distribution portals with the exception of twitter. Holiday party I was invited to last year when I was dating a woman in high up corporate financial investing for TD Waterhouse, Vancouver… I wasn't that in to her, haven't had any drinks in a long time. Ended up having a few and hitting it off with this hot DJ and ended up Co-dj-ing the event, flirting and the whole deal, all while my date and her friends and co-workers were the audience. It was an awkward couple of days after that. lol
I am awake and alive π
