I absolutely hate when people send auto-messages after they've gained a new follower. I have actively un-followed most of you when you do this because it speaks to your intent on the platform. You're looking to scale social media on a platform like Twitter that's simply not scalable.
Twitter is the only true social network because it functions like a town square -- A place where you can jump into conversations without sounding/looking creepy. The other networks are pushing content where Twitter is still the place for actual conversation.
When you go and auto-reply in a "town square," you're the same as the guy walking around just dishing out their business card at a conference or networking event. YOU'RE THE GUY THAT PEOPLE HATE. It's the wrong move. You're not putting any effort into engaging with people. You're auto-replying in the town square and providing no depth, no value.
What do you honestly think is going to happen when I receive that message? I'll tell you what's going to happen. I may sign up for your newsletter and you're going to email me and it's going to go to spam and I'm not going to engage. Why? Because there's no context established. That first taste, that first impression, all of a sudden is sh*t, and you've lost.

Hi Gary, made it a point to thank you for the Gary Vee show and decided to listen to your show starting with episode 1 (listen to it like a podcast). The show is like a lifeblood to my daily work routine that gets me stimulated, motivated and and inspired to be better. Well, I am still lost in what I'm supposed to do and where I'm supposed to be but the questions that the community has been sharing has pushed me to become better. But being lost is a process, and I love the process. I really appreciate how you see things such as goals in the macro and keeping the grind real in the micro. You have shown me to be grateful in everything that I do and the people that I work with. I'm still appreciating the real-life lessons of my 8 am to 6 pm job but I still working on the things that I'm passionate about (hosting, vlogging, reading books, inspiring people etc. I haven't done more content yet due to pandemic situation, but I'm still trying to be creative. Hopefully, I can bounce back. Much love for inspiring people in the Philippines.

Thanks Gary. Again found you a few weeks ago. You keep saying do what you do, and not what you say. Like you said here focus on you. Don't worry about the other shallow ponds. Worry about making your pond into a lake. Thanks!

Coming in here 4 years after the fact to say that holy shit it’s cool to see the evolution…I’m working my way through all the episodes and really cool to see you you were right about twitter adding the RT function and giving you 140 characters onto of that episode34.

Hey Gary, love the show. I've only discovered you recently and am going through all your episodes from the start (yeh, long way to go…). I figured being 3 years behind there wasn't much point commenting, but you called out the lurkers, so here I am! I'm not trying to be a hustler or an entrepreneur. Really love your energy on the show though and think a lot of what you say can be applied to any self-defined idea of success, not just in business. Hoping I'll eventually catch up and be able to watch these as they come out. See you in 200+ episodes time!

Gary! Lurker since October and I've been soaking up your content like a sponge. Mostly on Podcast while I'm doing installations, maybe video in the morning and its been lighting a fire under my ass and unlocking my best self. Thank you!

I am an 18 year old from India. I am trying to help my father turn his education business into a more depth oriented and employee focussed organisation. At the same time I don't want to take my eyes off of profits

Awesome as always, feeling overwhelmed because I’m binge watching "listening" like a mad man trying catch up.
Gary Brother I am envious of that DNA thing that you have that you are always talking about.
