We need to shift the conversation about younger generations .. they're not "lazy" or "entitled," they have real options! The traditional 9 to 5 model isn't the only path anymore, and if we as bosses, leaders and CEOs don't start recognizing that and finding ways to create value for them through workplace culture, care and support, retention will continue to be an issue!

Someone who's 22 years old knows the following: I could work for you and make 51 000 a year doing something that I don't fully love or I give them tick tocks all day long and make 51 000 a year on ads and brand deals. We have to adjust to the amount of options they have to make money. It's not super complicated and many of us would have done the same if we were 16 today and realized it. We're struggling as companies for retention because they have too many options.

The content money isn’t stable for 99% of creators out there and they know that, but they’re not going to a faceless corporation that treats them like a number for the same amount they could make doing content for a year. You have to offer them a culture that makes them feel better about themselves. Content doesn’t give them that, at least not consistently. But if your culture is stay productive, less feedback, rigid rules, monitoring breaks, strict attendance rules etc, people will leave you. Those companies always have a big turnover rate at some point and they always blame young people for not wanting to work. Young people get after it, but they can smell fake from a mile away and they will never bust their ass for fake.

We’re gonna run out of people to make stuff and all we’ll have is content

You're making false promises to get the younger generation to follow you… not every 22 year-old, or 16 year-old, has a glowing influencer career waiting for them. Be more honest with your viewers if you're capable of legit advice.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars My Financial Climb says:

I started up Ebay 4 years ago, learning along the way and building up capital. I now match 70% of my income, just from doing this on the side, and I'm continuing to grow. One day, it will be 100%. It gives me more confidence and leverage at my work, knowing I have that in my back pocket. It's empowering.

And that's the real reason folks are trying to get TikTok banned.
