Flew to la this weekend here's a really good question i got while i i was there hey gary my name is irma when you were working with your and helping build this company you literally got paid zero. Did you ever resent that in the beginning and how long did it take you to really appreciate that process. My dad paid me two bucks. An hour in my teenage years 18 and older i was getting minimum wage and then from 20 to 32.

I was always very undercompensated because it was a family business. There was times where i was like this sucks. It was hard because i was such an impact on the business and i was getting undercompensated. I would have been better off working at a company rising up the ranks and got paid properly.

But it was never resentment because it was micro frustration but in the macro. I was so grateful that my parents brought me to america to live the american dream. So me working my face off for the family felt appropriate. I was in a selfless place.

And then when i wanted to do something for myself. I took on responsibility and accountability. I couldn't change the family business dynamics and make my dad do something i went out and did something for myself i'm grateful for what he did for me. But i was micro fry stranded at times.

I just don't understand how after having such an impact on the business and being involved in the growth you didn't develop yourself a handsome salary & career within the family business. Something doesn't add up in this story it just doesn't, especially the next part starting your own business with "nothing"… 🤔

Worked for my dads pool and spa company he built from the ground up. Located in Southern California desert where summer days would hit 120 degrees. Lots of digging holes/trenches and pool cleaning. Also didn’t get paid very much but learned how to work hard, and learned that I didn’t want to do manual labor the rest of my life. Every now and then I miss the simplicity of it and although it was tough work I’m grateful for it now.

Had you rather be given a lot of money or would it be better to have the knowledge to create wealth? If everything went to hell tomorrow and everything was gone the mental tool box that remains is invaluable. You can’t monetize blessing from prior generations.
Don’t forget where you come from. The blessings from God go to fruition in later generations. Remember what brought them here. That will be your greatest test.

You should've quit when "it sucked" and do something you love instead. According to your philosophy, no?
