I like your take on this.
On my wall, i have a poster written "OPPORTUNITY is GOLD". And this is such a force multiplier ppl have trouble grasping how important it is. I also like the last part "the way you respond is the whole game". This is so true: you can do anything you want and get tons of publicity but ultimately it's the way you respond that make or brake your brand.
