Not the opinion of others that bother me. It's the opinion of myself. So are there any strategies for blocking out the negative opinion oneself can have about themselves? Absolutely. Either your mother or your father put that negative opinion about yourself in your head.

Once you realize that that's true, then you stop on yourself and realize somebody else made you do that and you start the process of loving yourself. We are not born to think we suck. It is instilled in the insecurities or negativities of the people around us. And by the way, this doesn't mean you should hate your parents.

They were doing that because that happened to them. But you need to understand that that voice is not in your head. Attention is the number one asset.

This is SO true for me Gary…..both my parents make me doubt everything (my dad most of all, hated me, called me a parasite when I was growing up) and it affected me so much, now I can't take ANY kind of criticism and I take EVERYTHING to heart!
There have been numerous occasions over the years when I have felt so worthless because of my past, I have considered ending things…..I sincerely wish I had someone like you in my life when I was growing up…….I feel pathetic letting it still affect me so much…..(I have just turned 52, like what the hell…..when will the self doubt stop?)
Thank you for all you do, I'm sure your words help millions of people who are affected by their past too 🤕

This just isn’t true haha. It might apply to SOME… but truth is something that is ALWAYS true. Unless he is trying to say that a person raised by supportive, positive parents… never has negative thoughts about themselves?

Thank you for stepping into the arena of dealing with unresolved childhood issues. Very important. We are not responsible for what happened to us as children but we are responsible for how we deal with it as adults.
