Coming from the service side but recently obsessing over what makes a great product people want to by gives great perspective on what people value, but also what the market needs. It was so natural to provide a service for clients (especially if you have a technical skill not much people can execute on) but creating a product was always the thing that kept me up wondering. What caused people to pull the trigger or even be habitual consumers of a product. Then I started studying branding and what people want on an emotion level and it provided a little more clarity, especially when it came to the power of Storytelling and content around the product or service but at the end of the day you still have to come back to the market and supply and demand for a true Compass. You can create something and make it shiny but if it's nothing the market needs (or even what they think they need) no matter how good it may be for them they won't bite. One can argue you can spend time educating the market which is a noble cause but it should still be routed in why the consumer should have it and more importantly what value you provide at the end of the day for them.

I still like fight with the word practical. Some things that seem impractical at first turn out to be just right. That says, I think it fits perfectly into the context of this message.

Hi Gary. My first YouTube comment. I'm just on the first step to creating my first pure client service business – Cloud consultancy. It's based on my 17 years experience of helping people with their hosting applications. So far I've ignored people who have told me I need a "product" that I should do "AI" and the money is in "hardware". People are my product, our ability to understand and work with clients is our Intelligence, and our experience is our asset. People made money in the gold rush selling buckets and spades, I believe the smart money is now with showing and helping people how to get the best out of those tools.
