    The issue with digital or social is that it is the clue is in the name. It is social. Yes your target consumers are all on that space, but you have a lot of companies/industries that need retain an air of formality. It suits consumer goods, it suits food, but it doesn't suit banks, or energy companies or mining companies, or utility companies, or the construction industry, or architects. Sure they can go down that road, but if you venture too far in that direction, there is a trade off. There is a large grey area for a lot of companies where the impact has little incremental value. You will always need advertising agencies and pr. As a consumer I don't want to engage with companies on social media, I might on twitter to vent at how shit they are, but I don't give a shit generally, unless its a really cool ad that one of my friends has decided to share. If I'm on Facebook, I don't look at the ads, people do apparently and thats cool, but again, what he said here about them taking time away from you is just as true on digital. It has become part of the landscape, I'm not sold on it entirely.

    I have been following you since you first started wine library tv on youtube back in the days. Long story short, I got into wine back then because of a girl I was dating at the time.
    In all honesty, this is hands down the best video you have ever put out. Not sure what it was, but it's simply honest and raw. This damn video should be mandatory for all college students or college marketing/business classes. I learned more here in 30 minutes than I have the last 8-10 years of my life. Keep doing your thing Gary.

    Thanks @GaryVaynerchuk Great talk. Very informative, in your face, and fresh. Love how you tell it like it is from your perspective. Most important takeaway, "Anybody who doesn't bring value, should die." It's important to remember this in the creative realm. We're aligning smart business objective decisions with true user/audience needs and presenting it in a beautiful, engaging way. Then we use the feedback we get from data to reinform the business objectives.

    As a designer, I often refer to myself as a visual translator. Only thing about that though, if the language I'm trying to visually translate is misdirected, confusing, off topic, or boring, I'm just polishing a turd. It all has to work together to bring value for your audience.

    Thanks for sharing your intellectual view with all us out here. And continuing the conversation and keeping up with all this constant new media shiz.
