One of the biggest challenges in following your dream is not giving in to the doubts and negativity of the people around you. On a recent episode of the "In My Feels" Podcast, GaryVee, Noah Cyrus and Lou Al-Chamaa had a really insightful conversation on chasing your goals and the impact it has on the relationships with the people around you like your family or close friends. This is a really important conversation that hopefully gets you to realize the potential risk of listening to outside voices over your own... Enjoy!

I appreciate that you spoke about the pressure from parents. I had a lot of pressure to be a doctor. Even though I didn't want to do it I still went to med school to make my family proud. I ended up dropping out. I'm trying to recover from all of the debt I now have without a way to pay for it (luckily the PhD program I'm in is being paid for through work). Biggest regret of my life. At least I didn't go to pharmacy school after dropping out as was expected (even though I did get in). I work with college students now and hear this issue a lot. I've had this talk with many. It's a huge issue that can have a detrimental toll on mental health. Eastern culture is so different from western culture, but I have seen students/clients from American upbringings deal with this issue. Parents really need to accept that when they have children, their role is to support them, as long as the child isn't hurting anyone. Easier said than done. It does get better though. Gary's advice is on point. I decided to chase what I love, which is counseling. I hope to open my own therapy and consulting practice to make it into a business. Watching these videos is really inspiring. I've noticed that Gary appears to be in a flow state, which according to researcher Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is where happiness lives. Those who dwell in the past tend to express symptoms of depression where as those who focus on the future may experience symptoms of anxiety. All there is is now and the more we can be in the present moment, overall the happier we will be. And I totally agree about being cognizant with who you spend your time with. Even if it is a family member. There are ways to be assertive and establish healthy boundaries around people you may not completely be able to cut out.Thank you!

To thy own self be true. Sweetheart you only got one life on this planet. My advice to you is use this one life to follow through and be all that you want to be in this life as far as your dreams and where you want to go in this life. Family you would think family would be a source of support in not in a way that they see fit but in a way that will help you go up and on through the direction you want to go. Validate yourself surround yourself around the people who also see that bright potential inside of you and will help you achieve just that. You have my blessing and you can do this. One life make sure it's your dream and what you want. Don't spend a life time of regret with the should of would of could of. Oprah once said on one of her videos that think about what you are most passionate about and when you think about that passion and dream would you do it for free? There you go you found the true conformation and validation in the direction you want to go.💋

I’m bad at school things that my family can label me as unsmart and a naive person, I look like naive in school, but as a study human behavior, personality and DNA just like what garyvee mentions it make sense now

    Why I’m build like this
    There’s a lot that matters
I think things that seem negative to others like
I really do care of people but people’s around see it as wreckedless
    But I have it balance

Now pain seems okay, now my pains isnt a waste, I’m getting hype and triggered to be positive and optimistic and to hardwork.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Beyond Happiness says:

I understand that most schools aren't for people who are "creative" but there are a lot of non-traditional schools like Hampshire college witch is flipping education on its head. So its important to really look into every aspect before we make generalizations about education as a whole.
