If you scrolled through my feed and you saw the same tweet a few times, would you hold it against me? 😉
What do you think of people on Twitter who are posting the same thing more than 4 times a day?
I think that's an interesting Twitter strategy, in 2013 I posted the same message on Twitter more than once for the first time in seven years. I agree with Guy Kawasaki on this tactic for using Twitter. The Twitter stream is so busy that if you have something you want to say you have to be strategic. I didn't tweet the same message multiple times on twitter from 2006 to 2003 but now I do. I don't think it's spam, I think what I'm doing is when it's nine o'clock in the morning eastern time and I wanna say something that's important I'm smart enough to realize that it’s 6 o'clock in the morning in San Francisco, when I have a fan base there. It’s all about social media optimization and understanding the nuances of the platform within a specific context. Sometimes social networks are busier than others, so you have to be smart about when to post on Facebook or dark post on Facebook or post on instagram or run Twitter ads. And to that same points, platforms should get busier as they grow.
I understand on the flip side the reality is the stream has become so busy that some people are missing some information that can come up on their twitter stream and not to mention it's so fast everything is microseconds, but you're not so fucking devastated that you're seeing something a second time. It's not the end of the world! I saw a fucking tweet a second time not to mention given the fact that I try very hard to provide value and respond to bring the tweets scale and without good content I can't put any value in. So while there is value in social media optimization, it’s always better to overdeliver.

People don't understand how much work it is. Spam is spam. Trying to have a voice is hard cuz people can be real ****s wen u try to just make it in the world the way u want to. Tht guy is working his hardest to make it in this world and not be on the streets and people spit at him for it. And wen someone is on the street with no money cuz they didn't make it they have pity. This world is screwed up with nasty people all over tht don't care about the brother or sister (people) next to them.
That interviewer was a stupid, arrogant prick.
Here's a rule to keep in mind. It goes like this………..don't risk your brand getting damaged by allowing arrogant, potentially agenda driven pricks to interview you.
What's with the interviewer ?! Geez! Gary you rock!
Excellent job making your point Gary, shrugging off the spam joke and everything. We have learned much about social media from you and we highly recommend your books.
It gets really annoying seeing the same information over and over. There are only a few people that I still follow and care about enough that look past it.
My view is that if you miss something than you missed it. If your bringing quality info than I will end up seeing your stuff anyways when it is relevant.
I do the same thing and it works! I may not see it when you post it earlier in the day. I appreciate the repeat.
pwned!
The interviewer… Not entertaining.
the bald headed guy came across as an idiot. Just saying. He was trying to make Gary feel inadequate or something. BackFired Buddy! Now go drink some of Gary's good wine and wallow in it. With that said, you have to tweet multiple times a day to reach a thriving twitter audience, especially one as big as Gary Vee's. If you already read it once, move on till the new one roles around. There's plenty to do on Twitter besides getting caught up in seeing the same tweet more than once a day. For every time you see it again, someone else has seen it for the first time and wants in on the value of that tweet also. Facebook couldn't handle the same comment made that many times a day. UNLESS, you have a huge audience and the comment gets lost in the shuffle as the post runs down the page too fast.
"Your funny way to make a joke." Great response. That's a golden nugget learned by itself.
It's totally different if you have interactions in between "repeat tweets." I agree with Gary.
Love it!!! Your awesome Gary!
I agree with Gary… His method IS effective.
Posting the same tweet several times a day to increase the chance it's seen in a timeline isn't an issue.
What's disappointing is when you go to the poster's timeline and see that every tweet is basically the same "come see my new product x" or "support my Kickstarter campaign" or equivalent. That is of no value and I unfollow those people. The sad part is that many of those people think they are communicating with Twitter.
Awesome insights on getting the message out. Twitter is so fast I think we have to tweet multiple times to make sure our followers see it. Great video!
