Why do I pick on 8th Place trophies Because I Know unlimited 25 year olds in the world are anxious because they're scared of losing because an entire generation of parents demonized losing when you should be making your kids lose 24 7, 365. everyone's like social media's got these kids up. No no I love when Boomers and older Millennials are like these Gen Z Kids I'm like you raise them. Your kids sucked at soccer, but you wanted them to get a trophy.

but they sucked at soccer so you didn't want them to cry little tears when they were little. Now they're crying big tears when they're big. Kids are scared out here because they think losing's bad. You want me to leave with something.

Losing is the best.

I remember watching Peaky Blinders, in one of Tommy Shelby's many negotiations with Alfie Solomons, he threatens to blow up the building they're already in, and he says at 1 point, something along the lines of: "It doesn't matter what I do today, because I'm already dead."

Too many kids live a sheltered life because of overprotective parents.

The message is spot on (learn to lose, don't be afraid to lose), but the premise of "8th grade trophies" is a myth. I played sports as a youngn and we did not get rewarded for losing. You were bummed to not make it to championship or lose that game. No one said, "I got a participant trophy, so I'm the same as the championship team/players and I don't suck because none of us suck and we're all winners the same" – didn't happen. Never

Partial Wise advice and words which blame instead of encourage. Wrong that every parent did/does it because NOT every parent etc. does it. Generalizing a problem to accuse everyone though just some are guilty solves nothing.

It gives those who judge without facts excuses to keep blaming others instead of becoming part of a solution.

I cringe every time someone my age complains about today’s youth. Making sure they know I disagree I tell them stories of the astonishing young people I know. You get what you expect.

Suffering in childhood isn’t necessary to be a successful, diligent, adult.

Gary, I was shocked hearing you repeat the Right-Wing’s attack of participating . Example: 8th Place is a nothing (even when there are 50 in the group). Giving a trophy to all participants causes weak humans. Only 1st, 2nd, 3rd place matter is a lie spread by people wanting to destroy initiative in all the others. It’s also a lie that such activities are rampant and the cause of what’s wrong with youth of today.

As a teacher for 38 years and parent, I saw more lack of parenting than I did too much rescuing.

Too little communication and too much “stay out of my hair.”
