Most people continue to parent their children based on what they think other people think of them, not by listening to their actual children. This is a very important conversation. We cannot get to the path of all the other talks that we've been listening to without eliminating entitlement. It is very difficult to be empathetic or grateful without eliminating entitlement.
We must put accountability on a pedestal. We Must Destroy Eighth Place trophies. That doesn't mean that we don't admire effort, but results matter in life. Attention is the number one asset.

Yeah it is true, i had this happen to me with living with my parents. They had a hard time understanding my work and ambition route to create a better future for myself. I had more than a hard time getting my GED(because my school closed my senior year) and I had a really hard time doing college work.
My dad came to me at one point and said “I don’t know what to do with you, it seems like you don’t have any progress with a paying job or moving out. And I’ve asked some of my co workers and they said I should just kick you out and end it”
It was scary I’m lucky he didn’t kick me out then and there, but they were still about to. The thing is I quit my physical job because of multiple reasons including high anxiety and and they gave me really bad hours. So i was making as much on my side online job as my physical job. But the problem they had is they thought Didnt think the work i was doing was an actual job because they didn’t really see and and to be fair when they asked me how much i was making it was really had to give an answer. (Video editing is what i was doing) but the line of work is really inconsistent, so it didnt help my case. Nonetheless i was doing some other things along side that to boost what i was doing. As well as continuing YouTube. There’s a lot that goes into become a first generation creator and online earner.
I understand its really hard for parents to know and understand what its like, but parents if there is one thing I would have needed is direct support in what i do. Not monetarily, but just encouragement. That would have changed my whole outlook, and probably would have saved me worlds of anxiety.
