What is the key to happiness? I think everybody has a slight variation, but i think all of it gets to a place of like. Can you do what you want to do when you want to do it for a lot of people? That means making 49 000 a year working nine to five in a stable job because they do want to be on a softball team. They do want to watch two hours of tv a night. They want to go to every recital, that's fun for them and that's amazing, like i think.
A lot of people making 150 000 a year should make 97 so that they could be happier because they can buy a smaller house and a less fancy car. But they would be 10 times happier.
Big houses and nice cars are both cool, but at what cost? Not just money but what are you doing to have those nice things and are those things costing your freedom? Are you in a fulfilling career to possess these items? Idk, life is more than big houses and nice cars. I choose my freedom any day over that shit. If I can have the nice car and big house without having to hustle my face off to the point where I can’t see straight then fuck it. I don’t want a nice car and a big house.
There is a meme that hits hard. It's 3 pictures of a guy chasing money.
The 1st he is young chasing the money trail, 2nd still chasing the money trail but older, and the last 3rd and final picture is of him now elderly with the money but sad realizing he spent all his times chasing the money and NOT living life. What you just said reminds me alot of that meme.
This. Before seeing this I’ve had great self awareness and ideals on this. Life’s about doing what you want to do. Work should let you do that. Your family should let you do that etc. Find the balance and just do what you want. Go party every weekend, go eat out every weekend etc just don’t kill anyone.
I hate all these influences telling people how to make it big — I just discovered Gary Vee and he’s truly different from the others. I respect him so much for saying things like this. Often times people would indeed be happier making less — income can often have diminishing returns. Making slightly less money can potentially allow for radical improvements in quality of life
Can You just help me figure about "HOW TO STOP GIVING A FUCK ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE WILL THINK ABOUT ME?" Because at the end of every great thought just one barrier arrives for me "Man, what will they think, what will my parents do…"
I think I am not wise enought right now to think a thought to make me shout out loud to everyone "FUCK YOU AND I DONT GIVE A FUCK"
It also includes how to not get influenced by their opinions .
For example if I say I wanna help that guy and they say leave him he will take help but won't help back but I still say no problem that's my thing to care about but still, I get influenced and I might not help that person and while helping act as if I am regretting and not treat the person with the respect I had for them earlier.
I believe you can help me reach that thought where I will realise why to not give a fuck . Pls help .
The more money I make more freedom I have. The more freedom I have more time I can allocate to do things that make me happy.
I don't even remember what 5 digits per year look like when I can spend that now charting a private jet to go anywhere I want. Fuck 9-5.
I grind 24/7 365 not to have this bullshit broke happy talk in my life.
But he sells it really well, bet he make millions just by people paying to listen so in his merit he's doing whatever it needs to be successful. I respect him for that.
I believe the key to success and happiness is starting as early as possible figuring out and working towards what you are good at and want to do in the future. Far too many kid goof off in school, don't think about their future until the college/university catalog is in front of their face and then in a rush/panic make a poor choice. I by luck started programming at 13 years old as a hobby and immediately realized I was good at it and enjoyed it. Got my first full time programming job right out of high school. Because of my experience I was able to complete a 2 year college computer course in 5 month, tuition and living expenses, paid my the government. One year after the course, 23 years old, I was at IBM. This was the start of a 30 year career where I went to work every day to play, remember started as an enjoyable hobby, and they threw lotsa money at me. For the last 6 years, from 46 years old, I have been working for a major bank, full time, from home, 6 figure salary, benefits and 4 weeks vacation. I am lucky if I put in 2-3 hours a day. I know not everyone/career can be done this way, but the key take away is start young, work hard, be focused, determined and build a solid foundation for your future if you want to kick up your feet well before retirement age.
I’ve never met a human in my life who makes $49k a year that was happy. People want time, purpose and lifestyle. You can’t have all three at a 9-5 just over broke job. Also if covid 19 taught anyone anything, there is no such thing as a “stable job.” 75% nationwide unemployment. Think about it people.
